Jonathan Edwards And Martin Lloyd-Jones On True Christianity

Jonathan Edwards’ Sinners In The Hands Of An Angry God

And Dr Martin Lloyd-Jones’ The Unbeliever

We have no reason to cause anyone unnecessary alarm. But if one must be alarmed at anyone or anything, the Lord Jesus Christ taught God is the One any sane person must be alarmed at. And, you know what: no one can become a true Christian if he is unaware of God’s hatred for sins. No one will see Jesus as Saviour if he does not know God hates sins so much the only remedy is the Blood of His Son.

The severity of God’s punishment for sins is only matched by the depth of His love shown in His Son, Jesus Christ.

Fake Christianity talks of God’s love without reference to His justice. False preachers teach endlessly on what material and financial blessings God is dying to bestow on people – as if He had done nothing worthy of any note by giving men life, to start with. Because these preachers themselves do not know God, they never preach that He destroyed the whole earth, except eight people, when He got fed up with the sins and idolatry of the men of that time.

We need to be aware of Who God is and how we can get at the right side of His will.

Today’s sermons from Jonathan Edwards and Dr Martin Lloyd-Jones are to remind us what true Christianity really is.

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life” (John 3:16) was the center of biblical Christianity two hundred years ago: it IS still the same today.

Forget the fake visions of Pastor Enock Adeboye about the next unbelievable financial and material miracles lurking at the corner for you and Dr David Oyedepo’s order that you should “Command Your Destiny!”; forget Dr Daniel Olukoya’s satanic cry of “Fall Down And Die!”; forget Paul Enenche’s “Uncommon Anointing”: the love of God and the immeasurable horror of hell are the only reasons God died on the cross for you.

Hear these sermons. Share them with your friends and neighbours.

God has not changed.
